  Small question

Are PCI Express x16 and PCI Express 2.0 two total different things? Meaning that if I have a motherboard with PCI Express x16 it does not support 2.0?

They are two different things but PCIe 2.0 cards should be backwards compatible with PCIe 1.x so you wouldn't have a problem plugging a PCIe 2.0 card into your motherboard.

Does it affect the performance of it?

I wouldn't think so. Current cards don't come anywhere near maxing out the PCIe bus as it is so there's still plenty of headroom left in PCIe 1.x.
