What do you need it for? Gaming? What's your budget? What's the specs of the rest of your system? CPU and PSU are the two other important factors.

PSU - Power Supply Unit, but if you have an HP, chances are you have a crappy one that came with the computer. What kind of games do you want to play? If you have unlimited budget then the best course is to get a new computer if you want to keep up with the latest games.

Sapphire ATI X1950pro AGP 512mb is what I have. That is a major upgrade from a Geforce 5200.

If you want something a bit cheaper there is the ATI Radeon 2600 XT 256MB AGP

All I had to do was update my Bios but you may not have to. In my other computer I didn't have to upgrade the bios for it to work in there and it was older. You may have to upgrade your powersupply if it is weak but I've heard of 350watts PSU powering the ATI X1950PRO AGP card. My PSU was a cheap brand 500watts it came with the case. and has been powering the card for about 4 months not one crash or lock up whilst gaming or anything.
