Also, it would be nice to have formatting tools for PM (personal messaging) as well as smilies )))

Oh, and how are we coming along here?

...maybe you haven't gotten "hate private messages" like I have. I see no negotiating with these people. They clearly have a lot of pent up anger and this really is not the place to vent it. I stand by the moderators' decisions to ban them. They need to learn proper netiquette before they can participate in public forums such as HWA. HWA does not provide those services so they will have to look elsewhere.

"Netiquette," lol ... that, and "blogosphere" are two of the most annoying terms I've ever heard. :~

Anytime this happens to you or anyone else, please email me at the address below or send me a private message. Let me know who is doing this and I'll make sure they are dealt with properly.

Though netiquette may be an annoying term, it dates back to the beginning of the internet.
The document I seem to recall was from around 92-93, and was issued or published by the w3.org. I still think it is usefull as it points out SHOUTING, flaming, and other abuses of the instantanious anonymous communications that we all now take for granted.
As to the flames to Ford, filling up anyones inbox with hate mail is still concidered spam.

It is not spam because there is only one message but it's sole purpose is to flame--albeit in private. It is an odd phenomena, to say the least.

Thats more of a blog feature in order to keep the bloggers from reversing history all together...this i a forum, so even if we have edit features that permit modification, I don't think the strikethrough features would be as applicable here.

How about incorporating thread view and reply counts within the thread. Like this, perhaps.

You see for "Re" threads for front page articles, there's no way to see how many views are there. It's quite convenient to have the counts right in the thread itself.

Add another reason for having in the thread view / reply counts. If you found a thread by using the forum search feature, or by any other search engine for the matter, it will be very hard to find out the view / reply counts for that particular thread. Especially for old ones, which one have to flip through 100's pages to see it being listed in the topic lists.

How about auto-directing after a new post/edit? So say ... after I click "post" here, instead of going to:
/content/topic/70690/?o=120

it goes right to:
/content/topic/70690/?o=120#539507
