The "Posts Per Day (Average)" count in member profile for members joined less than a day is incorrect. See pic below (member name removed as for respect).

I think calculation used now is:
Posts Per Day (Average) = seconds in one day / "Time Between Posts (Average)" in seconds

So for this example 86400 / (19.2 x 60) = 75 posts per day, when the user only have 1 post!

Well, it is the mean average. How would you think of fixing it? My idea would be to just delay it kicking in by a week or so from registration, but that'd probably be more work than it's worth.

:~

It comes down to the difference between using (posts/days) and (posts/ceiling(days)).

That 75 PPD can be considered correct. They've only been a member for 19 minutes (about 1.32% of a full day), and already have created 1 post ... if they keep up that pace (1 post every 19 minutes), they will have 75 posts by the end of the day. The question is, do you count 19 minutes as 1 day, or as 1.32% of a day?

1 post / (19min/1440min) ~= (1/0.0132) ~= 75 PPD.
1 post / ceiling(0.013194444) = (1/1) = 1 PPD

Depends on how you want to look at it.

Thanks - the math was written somewhat differently, but you are right that it is "off" for users who just signed up:

posts_per_day = number_of_posts / (seconds_since_signup / 86400)

I added ceil() so it rounds it up and effectively counts full days. Otherwise, if you signup, post right away and look at your profile quickly you would see thousands of "posts per day" which would slowly decrease as first day ends.

McFly of course is also right that the math was technically correct. If you want to be even more picky - days don't necessarily have 86400 seconds in them - but hey, we aren't quite doing celestial navigation :)

When a post has been deleted from a thread, it will still say that user was the most recent poster such as the linked topic. Any way to fix this? Or would it not even make sense to fix it considering how the latest topics page is handled?

Is there a way to view a users history? It would be nice to see every thread started by a user or at least ourselves.

i know it has been argued many times before it it probably has been mentioned here
(sorry i have not gone through the entire thread)
but i still believe pictures could be a vital part to this forum

i noticed on other forums that the now even implement flash features for picture

basically you only see the thumbnail in the post but it opens to full size when clicked
i think that could work great here and would ease the clutter and be easy on the eye

it's not to difficult to implement either although i'd rather recommend a java based solution over flash

You can either be part of the problem or be part of the solution.

Not a big issue, but I just clicked the HWA Mobile link and apparently word censoring doesn't work.

I also think MrBungle's idea would be a good thing to implement if and when possible.

Fixed. This was due to an optimization I put in to restrict "latest topics" only to past few days. I made that time range longer and also removed "Next Page" once you get to the "end".

Can you put up a sticky or an addendum to posting rules asking new people to submit their problems to the community in a forum post rather than trying to do a 1 on 1 with the IM app or e-mailing a member. They will get better service from the entire community rather than an individual.I mean I try to help them but,...oh you know what I mean. Something about using the search box to find threads on your problem and if you don't find the answer start a new thread. Don't jump in someone else's thread.

How about post numbers in threads? (post 1, post 2, etc.).

I added a note to that effect on "private message" screen.

I need to think about this a bit.. We do have these stored internally, but they may shift if posts are removed (due to spam/abuse).
