  have they lost my harddrive ?

sent a faulty [ticking ] hard drive back to western digital , july 22 2008, they sent an email saying the recieved it on 23 july 2008. i checked its rma status on there site , and it says the havent got it yet , and it could take up to 7 buisness days .
well now its been 11 buisness days , i have sent an email asking whats going on , was this the right thing to do ? help - i think they have lost my hdd?

Depends on the company. Some can take less than a week, some take a month or two.

Hitachi and Samsung are very fast with RMAs. I've never had dealings with Western Digital. Keep trying to contact them until you get an answer.

Yes, I would definitely keep trying to get in touch with somebody over there. I RMA'd a Seagate drive a month or so ago, they shipped out the replacement the same day they received the faulty drive. Even upgraded it from a 120GB to a 250GB. :_)

i bought a seagate to replace the western digital - it loads quieter !

I always buy Seagate drives. Never had a single problem with one yet.
