Hello all,

this customer owns a business and bought a vista pc; he requested the pc be equipped with a lpt1 port. Why? cause he uses a dos accounting program that needs the printer to use the lpt1 port.

Now, I know there are usb to lpt1 adapters. I wonder, however, if vista will take it. Has anybody been under these circumstances? Any opinion? suggestion? alternative?

Thanks in advance to all, Juan.

Hi Juan,

Never tried it but found this which states Vista in the system requirements and one of the reviewees states he got it working with Vista:

Ecosse,

thanks for the reply, but I guess I did not make myself quite clear. Let me try again.

The printer works with usb ports; the computer has usb/lpt1 ports. NOw, the dos program requires printint to a lpt1 port. I have the port, I h ave the computer but I do NOt have the printer. Try to get a printer with parallel port today!

So what is needed is: a devise that links an lpt1 port to an usb printer port.

Thanks for the help.

Any more ideas?

So you'd be fine if you could secure a printer with a parellel port then?

If so, lasers usually have:
