I am currently looking to replace my earphones which came with my mp3 player (Creative Zen). I do not want to spend over 75USD on them so the high end stuff is out of the question. I was wondering if you guys could help me come to a conclusion.
My general preference is earbuds for portable music (on my Sansa), and headphones for music at home (when I need to be quiet at least, 99% of the time I crank my Polk RT5's )
Also, to me, high-end headphones for a portable player is a bit of a waste, since the DAC and amplifier in most players won't even be able to really take advantage of them.
Who's got a good suggestion for me on earbuds? I want something with "earplug" type qualities that will form a seal to keep the most of the other noise out. The only problem with the ones I have now is that they get loose when I'm running, which gets annoying.
I have a pair, I'd heard they had better bass response than the stock headphones that came with my 30 GB Zune. They do, but, personally, they seal sound out so well, it feels suffocating to me. But if that's what you want, the Zune Premiums are the way to go, in my experience.

Ya I wrote this big long thing then read the second post. LOL I wrote a review on Reseller Ratings about New Egg and they sent me a Vista T-shirt (Housebroken! Free to a good home!) and a $25 store credit. I'm already broke this month so On Dec. 1st I'm getting those SENNHEISER HD201's or The SENNHEISER PX200's. I need over ear ones to block out all noise from the 51/50's ranting on the bus/train or hallucinating that I'm wearing my "I am a cigarette vending machine" t-shirt, but kinda like the folding ones. I may just get both. The door opened on the train last month and as I walked in it slammed shut on my head due to some mechanical defect and broke my head phones. Now I'm wearing some RCA ear hangers from Big Lots that are actually pretty damn good sounding for $5. Thankfully that hippie music doesn't have too much Bass. I need it loud enough to give my brain a vibro-massage without giving me a boom boom headache.
I got the Sennheiser CX300's several months ago. That are the best earphones I have ever listened to. After listening to them for about a minute, I realized I could never go back to using the stock earphones, which came with my old Samsung mp3 player (similar to ipod headphones). They are extremely crisp and have amazing bass and treble.
They do a pretty good job at noise cancellation and will block out most ambient sounds (people talking, street noise etc). It will not block out louder noises though.
I am glad I got earphones over headphones because they are much more portable, which is great because I do alot of walking.
I also bought mine when they were on sale at amazon. Amazing value for the price I paid.
How do you like the asymmetric cable (I believe it's the right side that's longer)?
The CX200's have equal length cables, so I was trying to figure out which I would like better.
At first I was skeptical about it but it really grew on me. It is good because it makes it easier to only have one ear bud in your ear (the left ear phone). The right ear phone cord is longer and goes around your neck. By going around your neck, it adds support for the dangling earphone.
