I was just curious. I just read a review of the nVidia GTX275 and Radeon HD490. In the article the author says:

"we'll remove the 2560x1600 resolution tests we often do with high-end graphics. We think that, given a finite amount of testing time, you'll be better served by seeing a performance across a broader array of games than by testing a resolution which very few people have the 30-inch monitor to even enable"

So they run the benchies at 1920 x 1200. Is that a standard resolution you guys are running now? My monitor won't even run 3DMark '06. I get an out of range message. I think I'm out of the loop.

I'm using a 7 year old eMachines 17" monitor. I can run at 1280x960 but everythings too small to read so I keep it at 1024.

That looks nice. But I don't think it would fit on my desk. How wide is it over all?

I have my monitor in a furniture wall unit. The area for my monitor is 26"w x 18"h. This monitor is 23"w x 16"h at its lowest point lowered and 19"h at its highest point raised. So this monitor for me is going to be the biggest it is going to get. LOL.... by the way, this monitor rotates 90 for portrait mode viewing.

Mothow did you even see the benchmarks? GTX 285 wins over the 4890. You know... I think you just have an itch to upgrade and you say that excuse.

LOL THE UPGRADE ITCH! Here Tom this will make you feel better. The 4890 barely keeps up with a GTX275

1920 x 1200 is the only way to go. I've gotten used to it, anything less drives me nuts.

Sorry for being OT, but IMO the 4890 would be a better buy over the 275. They do swap blows, but the 4890 has great overclocking, and is ever slightly cooler.

Either way, for the $220 - 250~ for either card, you really can't go wrong.

I am gaming on my BenQ 24" TFT with a native res. of 1920x1200 for a good while now....and if you have the tech to power this res. then it really does look stunning. The monitor I bought was best in class when I got it, but I bet there are others now that are better but you will pay. I swear and I have said this on numerous occasions....it is the single best purchase I have made for my PC....Brilliant TFT.

Have a look and see what you think you will get it for a good price.....

Yep, got a 26" (Doublesight DS-263N) @ 1920x1200 last year and have been loving it. The only downside is I am due for a new video card (again) soon...it's a lot more pixels than 1280x1024 was :|

I used to run 1920x1200 on my laptop with a 17" widescreen and it was bloody awesome. I miss that laptop.

What confuses me is the fact that they call some 1920x1200 monitors "1080p" but 1080p is actually 1920x1080.

And yes, for computers, 1920x1200 is the new standard.

I'm running at 1680x1050 and I don't mind it at all. I will upgrade eventually but this seems fine for now.

1600x1200 suits me perfectly. Having a bigger screen/resolution means
having to get more expensive dual cards for the latest games. I just can't
keep up with that anymore. I seen the light lol

....I'm back, but only as a part-timer... :)
