I am Jim Goldman and I have no knowledge about computers what-so-ever.

In the video game world, guys like Jim are often referred to as "n00bs."

We actually just had a similar argument at work. Macs are a standard for any audio/video/photo or publishing. Why is that? PC's are faster, and all the production apps are available on them as well. My mac loving friends couldn't say anything except "Mac's are just better."

Yes. Indeed.

Oh what's the use. MAC fans are like zombies or religious aficionados, no matter what we do we aren't going to change their opinion. Sure, it's fun to maybe flame against a MAc fan once in a while but to me it all ends in frustration, when our responses will surely corner them into saying "Mac's are better period!"

TBH Macs are the defacto standard in print / photo / video editing/production, mainly because they WERE a hell of a lot better than PC's some time ago.

They're all pretty much the same on the inside these days. The main reason production companies / design companies still use them is because A)most of their senior designers etc would be a lot more proficient within the MAC OS / environment, and B) theyir software would all be MAC based.

Also, as I know personally, font management etc is a LOT better on the mac.

I use a mac in work for design, and I also have a PC in work / at home. I'ce actually found that the main software I use (Adobe CS3 suite) is a HELL of a lot quickier and more stable on the PC than the mac.

Even the likes of Premiere Pro is MUCH better on the PC, as it allows rendering down to formats that you only can do on a mac if you buy Quicktime pro. Granted, QT is not expensive, but after shelling out a few grand on software, its more than a taad annoying to realise you can use it to its full potential unless you by another piece of Apple software.

Oh, and they're ALL cheaper on the PC too - I wonder why?

However, I do love OSX, and find it so much more intuitive than any windows OS - but would build a PC and create a hackintosh over buying a mac pro for myself anyday.

I just looked at that whole thing there - how on earth is that guy employed? lol what a plank!
