Yeah I was shocked at that too. They had been advertising that for a very very very long time. They even delayed the original switch date. But maybe it's because they did not know how to setup everything properly. There are many non-technical people who require assistance with all the converter boxes, wires and TVs.

Lol is all that has to be said......to be honest i'm surprised its that low, I guess i'm just cynical

Having voices in your head is normal. Listening to them, common. Arguing, acceptable. However, when you lose the argument, you're in trouble.

The FCC, with help from every media source that exists, has been advertising the "switch" heavily since January of 2008. A year and a half later there are still folks wandering around wondering what's going on.

I have no doubt most calls the FCC has received were from clowns in my home state of Mississippi. There are people here who still struggle with electricity, flush toilets, and couldn't find their hindend with both hands.

Calling them Idiots is being polite.

I don't watch tv, and I didn't know the switch was right now. It has indeed been advertised since January of 2008, but since my glass of care is so severely empty.... yeah I don't give a damn. I watch any shows I like online and don't have cable, so /shrug :/

Wow, I am suprised that people actually could have missed all those advertisements on TV about the digital TV transition. I do not even get broadcast TV at my house, we have DirecTV, and at college we had Time Warner cable, and on the local channels (the NBCs, ABCs, CBS, etc.) they always were advertising about the transition. I barely ever watch TV, and the few times I have I caught these advertisements on TV. Also many people were talking about this for years and there was a lot of confusion about it so I am not sure how anyone could be completely oblivious to this transition. I do understand however that some people might not have known what to do to get service after the transition, but to be completely unaware of it seems a little crazy to me.

Found a news clips about people "struggling" with the transition:

Tell you something funny. I had help few of my relatives setup DTV in their home, since they had no clue how to do it, nor did they know what the heck's going on. One of them came back to ask me today, "What happened to my TV channels?? Did you remove my channels?! I can't see my channels!!"

I don't know if I should feel funny or angry. ;) I told him, "I have no power to remove tv channels... they are gone everywhere. I setup Ch3 for your digital tv box, you need to switch to Ch3..."

Relative, "Ok, Ch3, ok... I see something. But some channels are still missing! Where are they?"

"Well, you have a 'chicken wire' antenna, you need a better antenna for some of the weaker channels. They cost like $30 bucks in stores."

Relative, "Why do I need to spend more money? I already pay for part of this box!! Can you make my channels appear, just with this?"

"Sigh..."

LOL ;) Sometimes, it sucks to do family tech support...
