Take a look at NFS Shift. Just check out the graphical artwork involved in this game.
You'd think it was DX10. It should be DX10, but it's all DX9. It's amazing how DX9 still
stands out. The real-time lighting, the textures, everything. DX9 just seems to get better
and better.

DX10 was a bit of a nightmare for devs to program right? I read this somewhere a long time
ago. If it was as fluent DX9, I suppose DX10 would've taken off a lot faster. I also imagine
Console Port overs are to blame for DX10 not evolving like it should've. It did make me
think about DX11, the NextGen consoles will be at least using DX11. So this time round
it will be brighter... I hope!

Supreet is right though, I mean didn't the same thing happen when DX9 got out? It took years for them to start using it correctly and even more years to bring it's potential. DX10 didn't have the time it needed to fully bring its potential.

*Edit*
Oh and Plug, you're greener than St.Patrick's day! Lol I just read the last post:

Meats,

I am on about the particular card not the manufactuer. I mean peeps think that the ATi 4870x2 is the best card on the market when its not. I am not an nVidia fanboy by any means, and I still hold true that the GTX295 should have been alot better then it is...it should have been hammering the 4870 series from the get go.

There is a reason why the ATi cards would heat a small village...and wake the dead. But I seriously hope the ATi bring out a UBER card soon.

There is not a mare gamer alive that would notice the difference on a DX9 or DX10 game. In fact if you showed a gamer too DX9 games and asked which was DX10 they would PICK ONE!!!

You can tell the difference actually. Especially on Post Processing. I can anyways.
On DX9 the daylight's real enough, but on DX10 the daylight is to such a degree, you
can tell the time of day by it. Sounds daft, but that's the best way I can describe it.
The sun shining on the rocks as an example is far more realistic than DX9 post proc.
Also the motion blur is more intense than DX9.

I have an eagle eye for thiss**t you know lol

The best thing about the intro of DX10 was the hardware.

DX10 hardware absolutely spanked anything else out there, even on DX9 games.

I'm hoping the same will happen with DX11 hardware.

I couldn;t give a rats about DX11 games tbh, but hoping the hardware will be a nice huge boost in performance.

8800GTX V 7900GTX anyone?? That jump was MASSIVE. I'm hoping for the same, but from the ATI camp at the end of the month :)

The 7800GTX was a massive boost aswell dubs....not so much hardware features but pure pixel power. I never forget the day I bought my 7800GTX with the QUADRO COOLER I think I had a Geforce 6800 or somes**t for about a month on loan....and it was DA BIDNESS...YOU FEELIN ME......!!!!

But yeah I am praying for a ATi UBER 9999x2 UBER CARD...I am losing face with this old GPU now.

Agree also Dubs about DX10 spanking EVERYTHING on release. My 7800GTX struggled
a wee bit with NFS Carbon (nothing major) but when I got the 8800GTX every game ever
since has run sweet. Even NFS Shift, Batman, all latest releases. It's the best investment
I've ever made on a GPU

Oh goodie I love posting my list of cards...

8800 GTS G92 (hail to the king baby)
7900 GTO (sitting in it's box)
X1900XTX (Bad, returned)
X1900XT (got 2 bad ones, returned)
7600 GT (mom's pc)
X800XT AIW (resold)
6800 GT (got 2 bad ones, returned)
9800 Pro 128mb (RIP)
FX 5600 256mb (resold)
MX440se (resold)
Voodoo 3 (trash)

As for the topic at hand... Nvidia is correct in this instance. For me anyways. I'm going to ride this current card till it wheezes its last breath and is obsolete. At the rate things are going, and due to my policy of "Everything that is old is new again" and "I have too many damn games to finish first", DirectX v18 could be out and I couldn't care lol.

Yipee me 2!

1) BFG GeForce 5200Oc PCI - I was just a noob and I can say this card was a rip off, pci iss**t for games.

2) BFG 5200Fx AGP- good card, could play Call of duty1, United offensive, Quake 3, Star wars jedi knight and about every other game I had at the moment. I liked that card.

3) BFG 6800Oc AGP - I bought this one on eBay and it served me extremely well. I couldn't believe how good my games looked on max quality. I think the card got faulty or was it the cheapass via motherboard? I shall never know

4) BFG 6800 Ultra AGP- Got this as a replacement from BFG for free. Spank every game in its ass and could deliver a whole lot more.

5) Evga 7600gt - Got this mini monster card for the Quad-core upgrade and it still was amazing, although I couldn't run Bioshock at max quality. In fact Call of duty 4 SP ran ok with this card with customized settings, but the multiplayer was awful even at the lowest of low settings, I just couldn't get smooth frames for some reason.

6) Evga 8800gt- Got this one at Mwave right when they were being sold out everywhere at outrageous prices, got mine fairly cheap too at that time, $275, now you can get one for $80 :(

Haha I don't know why I wrote that Plug, I just realized I'm greener than you roflcakes!
Honestly though, I'm not an Nvidia fanboy at least I don't consider myself one but I will definitely buy another nvidia card for my next upgrade mainly due to the fact that I tweak the hell out of the nvidia control panel when it comes to the monitor colors, contrast , dvd options, dynamic enhancement etc. i have profiles where I have everything perfect for my eye since my monitor has a strong blue output I have to tweak it thourgh the video card for my likings and I can't bring myself to mess the hard process I went through so I think I'll go with nvidia again next time :P

Tam,

I was playing NFS:ST last night and TBH GriD looks and plays alot better. The artwork as you call it is very plain looking and you really do have to max out the AA to get clean lines, not so in GriD. The cars are more detailed in NFS and more colourfull but after a couple of hours that wears off.

Dont get me wrong its a very good game...but if you already have grid...I would not get this. Also the setting up of the gamepads is a nightmare...I found. You just cannot find the sweet spot and even max speed down straights a slight correction has you eating barriers!

Just admit it Plug - you can't play Racing games end of! :P

I know where you're coming from Plug, but as I progressed through the Tiers I loved
the game so much more. It's a different game. It's a fresh release. I wanted something
different. And NFS Shift done it for me. Maybe if you can get your fookin GRiD wrkn
I'd play it more.

I love how the cars handle on Shift. The sense of speed I like too and the Physics as well.
I'm just saying that I really like this game. I'm not saying don't play that play this, just I
think the game has outshone the majorities expectations to some degree.

EDIT: WHOAH we both posted in the wrong thread! Doh!
