Hello.

I have had this same problem several times now all with different laptops. The very same signs. In the end I blamed the mobo and I simply did away with them. Hope your case will be different. Sorry I do not have good news to say. Just good luck, Juan.

Mark, sorry about your troubles. You could try to flash the BIOS if you want. Here's the support page for the laptop:

Thanks guys
Chad.... flashing the bios isn't likely to do any harm is it? If not then I might as well do it.

I didnt see in your post that the laptop detects the hard drive in bios. I assume that it does unless you state otherwise.

Something you can try is booting from and using a usb thumb drive s the hard drive. I have never tried this but i have seen it around on the internet where you run the whole os from the thumb drive.
My thought for doing this is that if you can get the pc up and running, then you will know that it isnt a fried mobo or that it can truly read the hard drive.

Hi MIcro

Bios is useless, doesn't mention recognizing the hard drive, but I don't think it is meant to anyway, has barely any user variable options

What would be the best way to use the pen drive, copy a windows disk over to it?

A quick google found this link here, it seems pretty informative.
