Sorry for the repost - but I didn't include a subject in the previous post - duh!

Will the ASUS A7M266 work with an Athlon XP 1700?

Got A One ATX 2.01 300 PS
Samsung 256 DDR
Hercules 3D Prophet 4500
Studio DC10 plus capture card
Sound Blaster Platinum
2 x SCSI CD Drives (one writer, one DVD player)

These all work currently fine using my current CPU Athlon 1.33

Thanks in advance.

Goto ASUS and read the full manual for that motherboard.

Rishi,

There is no explicit support for the Athlon XP in either the tech specs or BIOS update info for the A7M266. However in the FAQ area, it does say that the A7M266 does support the Palomino architecture upon which the Athlon XP is based.

One thing that does concern me is that the FAQ mentions supporting a 1.4 GHz CPU but doesn't say anything about higher than that (the 1700+ is a 1.466 GHz CPU).

Yes, the A7M266 will support the Athlon XP processors (I have an XP 2000+). Just make sure you update to the latest BIOS.

LOL!!

The irony of it all. Yes, I own a Asus A7M266 and a Athlon XP 1700+ !!!

They worked perfectly until I nuked the 1700+ from supreme overclock.... hehe.

Kind Regards,
Miles
