  Computer won't start up
 Date Written
Debbie Templeton Feb 12, 2010, 06:43pm EST Report Abuse
I have a desktop that was working fine. I had turned it off and when I went back to turn it boot it up, it won't do anything. The fan is running and runs all the time, but nothing comes up on the screen. It's as if it's not on. I looked it over to make sure nothing had become disconnected, but all the connections are okay.
Any idea as to what I can do? I am a beginner at this, although I do enjoy learning about computers.
Thanks so much for any help.

Hi Debbie,

One thing you can quickly try is disconnecting the power cable and pressing the power button for a few seconds. Re-connect the cable and power back up. If that does not work, try resetting the BIOS. This will clear the configuration settings and restore them to factory defaults.

Let us know how it goes after doing this so we have a better idea of what's going on.
