  Trying to access sky netgear router

Not sure if I'm posting in the right place but here goes;

Ok, so I dug up my old sky router (the white netgear one) which has been collecting dust for over 3 years.

I've never actually used the sky router on this laptop (vista basic)

I want to flash it back to the normal f/w (I want to give it to someone on tiscalli/talk talk) but can't access it. I know the login ip is 192.168.01 or

The trouble is I'm with BT and I'm using the 2.0 home hub so everytime i enter one of the above it just comes up with the BT troubleshooter.

Is there a way to configure internet explorer or a new connection setting so I can access it?

I've tried disconnecting the BT Home hub to see if it was interfering but to no avail.

any advice or a step in the right direction would be grateful.

disconnecting it from the local network should do it.
you can also set your ip address manually to ensure that you are on the same ip address as the sky router.

not sure if a factory reset would help since you flash the firmware

You can either be part of the problem or be part of the solution.

Plug the router directly into your laptop and use the ip, then change its firmware and settings accordingly, on some routers the default login is something like or something similar.

ok so i've manually set my ip to and default gateway to and both come up when I goto the command prompt and type ipconfig and in the properties tab but it still won't connect to the router.
