TBH I thought Half Life ripped off Golden Eye 64. Even though GE64 was not a PC game,
it set the way forward for future games.

How is that even possible, the games have absolutely NO relation except that they're 1) FPS 2) Sometimes in Laboratories.

Half life was well in development before goldeneye was released.

According to one of the game's designers, Harry Teasley, Doom was a huge influence on most of the team working on Half-Life.

I thought when Doom 3 and HL2 came out that Doom 3 was the better game honestly. I remember playing them with my first and new custom built PC! 9600xt <3

To me, Half-Life is one of the most over rated series of game ever.

Goldeneye was released in 1997. Half-Life teaser screenshots appeared early 1997 (I looked it up).

Edit: but that doesn't rule it out I guess...

Goldeneye was in development before official release of N64. It was originally supposed
to be released within the 6 month of N64 debut

I'm pretty certain Rareware was a UK based company (before Microsoft bought it) so I doubt Valve would have seen Goldeneye until it was released.

The only reason I didn't fall for it is because they no longer make videogame demos before the game is out. They make them after.
