Sorry to hear this G.G. I've been laid off twice in the past year. Unbelievable!! It's not nice.
I've never been out of work from the day I was 16, until May2009. But I am back into a good
job, and the same will happen to you. It just takes a bit of time. Chin up ol boy and stay
positive. It's hard, I know, but you will get something soon.
damn that's tough. I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune G.G. but you must stay positive my friend, you're a skilled and intellectual individual and another job is just around the corner. Just stay sane and be patient. You will, without a doubt overcome this tiny obstacle in your path.
Word of advice though.... DO NOT SELL THE MIATA!!!
Everything I write is Sarcasm.
thanks.... i'm feeling p**sed off at the moment and at the same time my head is spinning with my stomach being royally screwed up... still in my pj's and haven't showered all day... been on the phone talking to lots of folks at work and even applied to a couple of jobs within my company......
Well.... i guess i will make an anouncement as to whom my will be ex-employeer is since some of you may still think I am a vagina inspector professional....... That company is Hewlett Packard. As of this past summer, I hit my 25th year mark. I have only told a couple of HWA persons here. I didnt want to influence on who I was basis just because I worked for this bastardized company, with me being with this once great company when Mr Dave Packard and Mr. Bill Hewlett running the show. god bless them... I miss them... to this company being run down into the dirt by Carly Fiorina and Mark Hurd over the past 25yrs...
It's the current way of company execs following the they get theirs out of our hides or they dont have to live without because the grunts are made to live without syndrome.
My Job title at HP is or in this situation was....... MCHS - Mission Critical Hardware Specialist... Basically I take care of high end Mission Critical customers making sure that their systems are sound and trouble free with keeping them happy with our services. Taking care of customers like Pfizer, Bank of America, General Motors, IBM, etc..., large accounts.
Now.... I will have to focus on taking my experiences that I have developed over the years in hopes of making it available to companies that will have me. I can say that I will use my experience to pull away HP business to whomever I end up with.
leaving for now to look for jobs...
god this is a bad time of the year to be looking for a job on top of the bad economy..... christ...
Don't worry dude, you will find another employment in no time! Big f**king corporates sucks anyway!
Or fill out your medical school applications right now, and be a vagina doctor for real.
Seriously, the first thing you should do is to fill out the unemployment benefit form. You've been paying for taxes all these years, it's time to get some back from the government. Colleague of mine, after layoff, basically went off for a 9 months vacation, living on unemployment. You don't have to be that lay back, but at least buy you some time and some financial support, before you land a new job. Some states also pay a portion of your health benefits, if you elect to continue with those. Also, make sure they give you the severance check, your hard earn money anyway! Oh, also get your 401k and retirement money transfer to your personal IRA account, instead of having it sitting in the old company's account.
Yeah, man, been there, done that. It is not a pleasant time, but hang in there, be calm, and do your work searching for new grounds.
Man, that's some bads**t - my condolences I hope HP at least gave you some severance pay for your 25 years of service. Typical corporate bullshit - lay off the experienced (aka expensive) employees to cut costs then wonder why the company goes into thes**tter when the only people left don't know what the hell they're doing. Definitely take advantage of unemployment insurance (yeah, insurance - employees and employers pay the premiums...it ain't free money!) regardless. Good luck with the job search...I'll definitely let you know if I hear about any prospects in the area.
____ "For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong."
Absolutely, You will get another job.....land of oppurtunity and all that.....However, I would really appreciate if you got a job in Disneyland Florida. As I am heading back in the summer and would love a discount on that place.....help a buddy out G.G.

I have a status change that I like to share with you...
As you have notice that the thread began very ...... emotional... and in the scheme of things... it is understandable...
Today..... I am not nearly as emotional as time has healing properties giving ones mind a chance to catch up and reset to its new bearing.
One thing for sure..... I learned a hellofalot when it comes to job search. A very steep learning curve, i.e. resume, web application (front door), networking (back door), job fairs, networking, interview best practices, networking, do & don'ts, networking, jobsearch groups, networking, negotiating, networking.... etc.... Oh.... did I mention networking??? lol .... one thing for sure... I am more experience in the art of job hunting
Now down to the nitty gritty..... its right at 5 months since I have been let go from my previous employer..... I am happy to say that I am.... well, at this point I will be employed once all the paper work goes through. I will be starting in a couple of weeks.
So your wondering who would take me in ???? Three letters..... and NO... it is not IBM... It is EMC.
So, I am on my way to a second career and a renew in life. Thank you all for your support.
