Last I looked, they expected to release the finished 4.0 sometime in November ... hopefully that doesn't get pushed back.

Current speculation is putting it into the first quarter of next year...

Are we talking about Firefox 4, or my ThinkPad? :(

Oh, well see that stole Firefox's original roadmap, so that you'll definitely be seeing by mid-November.

Does anybody know why they decided to wait until Beta 7 to freeze features?

I recommend downloading the status-4-evar extension. I've got some weird text issue going on in the UI on Win7, it's as if cleartype is disabled or something and it's really p**sing me off. OS X build seems fine concerning text but it feels like there's a little "play" when scrolling, bordering on a delayed response.

Both builds are noticeably faster with loading Gmail and anything script intensive. Though when going to anything script intensive, it hogs memory like a bitch. Gawker Media sites especially. Open an article with comments and watch it balloon.

I really thought FF4 was a slower....lots of hangs.

I had the FF4 beta up to v5, but ditched it in favour of the IE9 beta. It has a nicer UI, and I haven't noticed any significant difference in performance.

The tab manager thing seemed pretty pointless to me in FF.

I thought I'd give Opera a try but the fact that they don't offer true extensions and that I can't have more customization over the UI really p**ses me off. Argh.

IE9, Chrome and Opera still don't come anywhere near replacing Firefox for me.
