Hi there!

I just installed the new version of Messenger Live! and I simply hate it. I hate pretty much everything about it. And THE only thing that could've make it worth the while (the incorporated facebook feature) kind of deconfigurated the whole thing and I started seeing the people's actual names instead of their nicknames.

So, to make it short, I would like to know how to configure it so it looks like (and acts) like the old one.

Until now I've been able to restore the nickname thing and clicking the "compact" view makes it look more like the old one, but theres one thing I still cant do: Change MY nickname.

Now it just states my name, and I cant change it to a nickname (it allow me to change my actual name through a website, but I dont want that).

Any help??

Thanks!

Probably the only way would be to find a download of the old version somewhere and use that. I don't know any way of customizing it. If you can't find the old version anywhere, there are numerous other IM programs to try. I personally like Digsby, but other popular ones for Windows are Pidgin, Trillian, and Miranda IM. Although I haven't tested any recent versions of any of these later three, I do know that their look is customizable and they work not just with the MSN IM protocol, but several others as well.

Here's a larger list for comparisons.

I think it's alright. Some things I don't like, but that's me.
You just change your name on the hotmail page now. f**k knows why they made it
happen that way? It's been a while since i tinkered with the new one.

Yea he's done that already. You can no longer edit your name/nickname now in the
actual messenger window for some weird reason.

Meh, incremental upgrade.

Only thing thats annoyed me is the removal of the drawn messages feature, that was awesome.
