You should consider a crossfire 6970 setup as it beats the 6990 in every test I saw in Anandtech. Maybe you can save a few bucks too.

MOre space required, more power required, more driver issues (possibly).

Personally, I'd rather have the 1 card, than 2 cards and 4 power cables.

No doubt HD6970 crossfire is a very powerful setup, but to get the 6990 for the price he is getting it for is a no brainer TBH.

True, the 6950 CF is a monster setup Meats....I did not go looking for a new card it presented itself to me. I am quite happy with the 5970 TBH and the new drivers for the 6990 have increased performance by about 10% on my card.

But even single slot dual GPU have there own niggles never mind a CF setup..I too would prefer a single card setup even over a single card dual GPU setup. But there is nothing out there. I certainly would not buy a 6990 at full price thats for sure, but at the price I am getting it for it is a NO BRAINER!

We love you we just hate your system because we cant afford to top it but i can this time i have a few g's burning a hole in my pocket to build a system with which im not gonna do but im debating on a 6990 or whats Nvidia's dual gpu POS.I was gonna get the HP ZRW30 but just dont have the space for anything bigger than a 23 or 24 ich LCD.When i had that HannsG 27.5 LCD i loved it but i had no room on my desk

So did you get the monitor yet PNP?I just got a 2407WFP and i love it.Wish i had the money for the 27 incher.Well i was gonna go with the 27 inch but then i would of had to stick with my i7 920 setup a bit longer which to behonest is no where near as fast but as my 2600K but it was much was easier to setup and get running the way i wanted
