KVMs do not register on my Samsung 22" monitor

I fished out my old IOGEAR KVM from storage and it did'nt register on my monitor. The roaming NO SIGNAL message goes away when I attach it but just a black screen. Thinking it was old and broken I bought a new Trendnet KVM and the very same thing. The monitor know something is hooked up to it but no picture display. Chances both KVMs are toast is highly unlikely. Monitor fine when I connect directly to my PC. Please...am I missing something obvious? Same PC I have always had and the only difference is the flat panal.

OS: XP home edition 32bit
Montitor: Smasung 22w Samsung
MotherBoard: Abit AW9D-MAX (Intel i975-ICH7)

DVI or VGA? Are you using a DVI to VGA adapter? Those don't always work due to the confusing array of DVI connections.

If the cable or ports are DVI-D (digital only) then I don't think it'll work, as VGA is analog. The connectors are confusing (at least to me), take a look at the Wikipedia entry to figure out which one you have.

A friend gave me a old one last night. It had the PS2 connectors on the cables. My kb & mouse are usb but at least I now now its not the monitor but the new KVM was the problem. Either it was broken or from some reason not compatible with the Samsung FP.
