Respected Experienced Friends,

I am using the above mentioned model for last 4 years. Now since the battery is not giving me backup of 1 second even so i am using AC Adaptor and by mistek i forgot to switch off during one night and when i woke up found that Laptop is extremely hot and when i made it normal after unplugging the adaptor & restarted it i found that Laptop display is very dim .

I tried connecting a LCD Monitor with the cable and found that its working. Sony is unable to provide any solution.

It is most likely that the lamp(s) and/or the inverter(s) inside the display panel have failed. Since you mentioned it got "extremely hot" I would first suspect a failed inverter.

In some notebook models, these components can last only a few years.

You may be able to make the repair yourself. Replacement parts are often available online. It can cost MUCH more to have a repair shop do it for you...sometimes more than the price of a new or used replacement computer.

To see what is involved in the repair action, search on terms like these:

[ replacing notebook CCFL lamps ]
[ replacing notebook CCFL inverter ]
[ replace laptop backlight lamp ]
and similar
