Dear Sir,
I have intel P3 on i810 mother board with windows 98 installed on it.
Now I wish to plug the same hard disk on a latest mother board which consist of 1 ide and 4 sata ports on it. When i plug the hard drive on it, it gets restarted repeatedly. It does the same even when I enter in safe mode. I would be thankfull if any one resolves my issue.
Thank you

Are you trying to plugin that windows 98 HDD into a different motherboard?

To answer the question in the thead title it probably depends on the motherboard. I think the first one that natively supported SATA was the nForce 4 which was a few generations after the P3 so you may be SOL though.

Taking a hard drive from a system one motherboard and expecting a system built around a different motherboard to boot off it will usually fail or windows will more than likely BSOD out on you. Your best chance is to reload the OS.
