Longtime Super, thanks for the info. All I hope is that AMD can at least bring a huge performance increase that can be comparable to at least an i3 or i5, they have done great in the graphics department, especially with their integrated graphics. I hope that with Windows 8 they can really dish out better performance too.

Agreed, though Price/Performance is also as important. I have faith in Piledriver, because Trinity is a great APU.

So it's been confirmed, Piledriver desktop CPU's are coming OCT. 2012. Hopefully they got that rumored 20% to 30% performance boost over existing Bulldozer based CPU's.

AMD FX- Vishera to be released October 18, 2012.

AMD "Piledriver" microarchitecture uses the concept of modules, as building blocks for FX microprocessors. Each module contains two CPU cores with L1 and L2 caches, with some resources shared between the cores. The processors have 2 modules or 4 cores on FX-4300 series, 3 modules on FX-6300 series, and FX-8300 series will pack 4 modules, which translates to 8 cores. The chips also have 8 MB shared L3 cache, with the exception of FX-4300, that has only 4 MB of last level cache. The FX parts run at frequencies from 3.5 GHz to 4 GHz. All processors support Turbo Core feature, which can dynamically bump core frequency up to 4 GHz or even a bit higher. More detailed specifications of FX-4300, FX-6300, FX-8320 and FX-8350 processors, and their pre-order prices are summarized below:
