PC wont boot after a normal shutdown
 Date Written
Alfie Sihotang Mar 30, 2015, 02:52am EDT Report Abuse
I was on my PC all day. Turned off my PC to install a new hard drive, computer didn't boot up after the installation. (No clicks, fans don't run, just nothing) I tried booting by shorting the power pins with a screwdriver. I went back to my original hard drive and still didn't work. The mobo light is on. I tried removing my RAM, removed the mono battery to reset the CMS and retried and still nothing. The mobo is two years old and the power supply is a year old.
I plan to call a repair guy in the morning but was wondering if anybody anything else I should test in the mean time.

Sounds to me like you've done the things I would have suggested.

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago, and I sent the machine back to the OEM and they 'fixed' it and reported back to me that the "system was in sleep mode", which I couldn't understand, and at the time I never got around to chasing it up, so I'd be quite interested to hear what your 'repair guy' comes up with.

~ The manual said "Requires Windows '95 or better" I installed Linux!
